Snail Mail:
Books & Reading (sort of): Christian: Just for Fun:
This has to be short because I have to take my husband to a doctors appointment with one of his specialists, which means several hours on the road. And since we have to drive so far we'll (hopefully) be tacking on a few other stops at places that are too far to make a special visit just to shop there, and that means allowing even more time to fit everything in (but Trader Joes and Papa Murphy's Pizza are worth the extra time and are two of the tings I miss about where we lived in the north bay since both were located in the town where we lived =D). But since it's an hour & 15 minute drive each way with out traffic, I should be able to listen to a good chunk of an audio book, and I have two checked out from the library - Lila by Marilynne Robinson on my phone (via OverDrive Media) and Bridge to Haven by Francine Rivers on CD - so I'm all set. Miscellaneous ~
Life is still extra busy right now (DH was still in the hospital until today so trips to the hospital - an hour drive each way w/o traffic - have made unpacking, arranging and putting things away take even longer) so unfortunately these links are simply more articles and blog posts that I want to read but haven't had time to do more than skim them, if even that. In fact, I got this ready yesterday but didn't have time to post it earlier. Sorry it's so late.

Miscellaneous: Books & Reading:
Yesterday I was off the hill, as the locals say, so didn't have time to post anything. Luckily, there are several Kindle specials that are still good so I'm sharing them today. That's about it though since I haven't had much time the last few days to surf the internet for good articles. Some of these deals are good for a few more days while others end today or tomorrow.
Kindle deals: Non-fiction
* Good news, per Katherine Reay's blog post on GoodReads, Dear Mr. Knightley will be on sale for $3.99 (for both Kindle and Nook) until July 28! Hopefully the link will work for non-members, too. ** But if the GoodReads link doesn't work, I just found her blog/website. This has been a full week for us with doctors appointments, a trip to the vet (Mr. Cade has been off his feed and had developed a funny little cough but the vet pronounced him in good health and said it's probably the warm weather that's made him skip some meals), and house hunting so I really haven't had much time to search for interesting links and articles. On Memorial day did have a nice hike but unfortunately I only managed to write one letter so I'm still WAY behind on my correspondence. After spending so many hours driving up and down the mountain this last week, I just want to stay home and relax today so hopefully I can get a few more letters written. I doubt I'll get all caught up on my correspondence but I'm hoping to at least put a dent in it.
Because of having such a crazy week, I only have a few links. Monergism shared some free (Christian) e-books you can download: Dispensationalism Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow by Grover Gunn, The Story of the Puritans by Erroll Hulse and a link to a pdf of A Short Explanation and Defense of the Doctrines of Grace by Grover Gunn. Since they're all free, I've downloaded all of them but haven't had time yet to even look at them let alone start reading them and since my TBR list is really long it'll be a while before I do. Plus, 2 of the many books I put on hold at the library came in and another is moving up the hold list quickly, so I need to start them. Both books were given good reviews by some of the book bloggers I follow (I don't remember which bloggers but the books are The Pursuit of Mary Bennet: a Pride and Prejudice novel by Pamela Mingle and The Sweetgum Knit Lit Society by Beth Pattillo) and the 3rd hold that will be in soon is Francine Rivers' newest release, Bridge to Haven. There were 10 - 15 people ahead of me when I put my hold on it but it's zipping along and now I'm 3rd in line. Don't know if that means it's so good people are flying through it or if the library is only letting people check it out for a shorter time than you can keep older books. I'm also adding a link on my "blogroll" to a "How To Study the Bible Timesaver Bookmark" designed by Kim Clayton, a Precept Bible study leader who also leads some studies online. I've found it to be very handy over the years so asked for permission to share it here. You can download it from Dropbox. She based it mostly on Kay Arthur's book How to Study Your Bible and some from Howard Hendrick's Living By the Book and designed it so you can fold it in half (length-wise) and use it as a bookmark. Posting this on Thursday since I'll be off the mountain most of the day tomorrow. Kaiser pharmacists may be going on strike next week which means I have to make the hour and 15 minute drive to pick up my husband's prescriptions (we don't want to run out if the strike lasts very long) this week and while we're down there, we figure we should do all of our errands and shopping - no point wasting gas on extra trips. Regular gas in this little tourist town is $4.49 per gallon so we combine all our errands into one trip. Makes for a long day but it's better than several trips down the hill. Have a blessed weekend. (Best) Pens for Bible marking:
Miscellaneous "Ink" links:
Brian Goulet of Goulet Pens posted this video covering fountain pen maintenance, most of which I already knew but want to share for anyone who may be new to the world of fountain pens. In the past I've just used regular tap water to flush my pens but after watching this video I think I should switch to distilled water. Many years ago my first Precept Bible study leader shared her key word marking system with our class -- she color-coded by theme & I've tried to incorporate her system as much as possible (not always successfully but it helps me be consistent when marking than I would be otherwise). This JPEG book mark can be printed on photo paper (8.5 X 11" in landscape) for a handy reference. I just cut them apart so that they make three bookmarks. The other option is to laminate them, which I used to do, but that makes for a really stiff bookmark. The photo paper is thicker and stronger than printer paper but not too stiff.
It may be easier to download from this link with 3 bookmarks on one page or as a single bookmark.

I'm not sure where to put this blog or how to classify it. This blogger is a daughter of a friend and while I'm pretty sure she's a Christian, it isn't a Christian blog, or books & reading or letter writing & mail art. It's basically about their travels so I'm putting it here for now:
